Sorry, your DirecTV equipment will not work with that Dish Network satellite dish. You would need a DirecTV dish, ideally the same type as your home's DirecTV dish. But you would have to install it yourself, or hire a local independent satellite installer, because DirecTV won't install a dish at second location for you. Realize that it's against their service terms & conditions to use the same DirecTV account at more than one location, although they generally don't enforce that when you're taking your equipment to a vacation cabin for short periods.
I would ignore Greg's advice as to using the old dish with a new LNB. The geometry of the dish reflector is as important as the LNB (receiver horns) assembly so you'll want a dish like the one at home. I'm attaching a link to the dishes, one of which will match what you have at home. You'll also need a 21v power inserter and a SWM splitter, what size depending on what receivers you plan on installing.
thank you so much....I will follow this advice and ditch the Dish..
if you dont mind....where is best to buy these things from DTV or a
place like BEST Buy?
Regarding my set up I looked at my order paper and the installer put in
a HR44, H25, C31 and a slimline dish.
It would be optimal with us with the kids to set up two TVs especailly
for the month of august....
thanks again and any additional info you can give would be greatly
You can buy the stuff on eBay sometimes, Directv doesn't sell installation equipment. Be sure to look at the pictures in the links I provided and compare them visually to your dish. The Slimline comes in 4 flavors and you want a SL3 or SL5 SWM model. Be sure to get the complete kit including the two diagonal braces.
your link references a company in novi michigan...i live near
there....their picture looks like authentic directv equip.
ebay is cheaper but seems to be look alike equipment..
do you any opinion to offer....
i live near novi and could pick up from there....
and lastly, which dish would you recommend if using the genie and mini
and after further consideration i am going to have this equipment
installed by someone who knows what they are doing.
thanks so much
You need a DirecTv 2" OD mast, also, along with the suppporting monopoles, or use a stubbie mount for a low-pitch roof.
You could also look for a bar or restaurant where your vacation home is and ask them who did their install. then find out if that company will do a private install for you. The box doesn't care which dish it's connected to. Connecting phone lines or internet may set off some red flags however. But from your equipment list you need a SWM 3 or SWM 5 dish, a 21vDC power inserter and a 4-port splitter.
