771 error

I have a D12-100 standard receiver. It is the only one I have. The dish is on the roof and I don't think it has moved any. It is installed securely. But I keep getting the searching for satellite error.

 

These are the signal readings

 

Satellite transponders (32 total at 101º

    It's virtually impossible for you to troubleshoot this yourself with just one receiver because it could be a receiver problem, dish problem, or cable/connector problemWithout a second Receiver to swap around, it's Best to call DirecTV and request a service visitIt's free if you have their Equipment Protection Plan, or within 90-days of installation. Otherwise ~$50.

      I can borrow a receiver from my daughter and post the signal readings tomorrow if that will help.

        A problem we frequently see is all of the even numbered transponders are zero while the odd numbered ones are full strength.  This is often caused by a weak, loose or corroded coax connection to the dish.  When I first read your post I suspected that, but the zero signals do not follow the even numbered pattern.  If you'll review the numbers you posted and ensure that the zero signals are in the correct locations that will help.

         

        While posting the numbers for your borrowed receiver may be enlightening, it won't fix your problem.  If it proves to be the receiver (I'm doubtful) you'll need to convince Directv of that and they'll ship you a replacement at a cost of $20.  If you simply call for a service visit, the cost will be $50, or a $30 increase.  However, the service visit will correct any and all problems.

    That would help eliminate the receiver as the problem.

      Ok the receiver is not the problem.  I checked all connections and everything seems tight.

      Why would I get these weird signal readings.  Thanks for the responses
