DIRECTV
thanks Ebonovic for all his help with questions about TiVo-related issues,
answering questions about the R15, letting us know which issues to escalate to
our Engineering department and posting valuable resources in the forums that
would help customers get the information they need.

When I retired from working with computers in June, 2000, I decided to put my
physical energy into HDTV, woodworking, and service. The first two were
expansions of leisure activities and the last an opportunity to do more
rewarding work. Being able to serve others with the same interests through
Internet forums is a perfect fit.

owned: I'm currently using an HR20 HiDef DVR (networked to my MediaCenter
PC), HR10-250 HD DVR, a DIRECTV R10 DVR, an older Sony SAT-T60 DVR, along with
two D11 stand-alone Receivers and an older stand-alone Sony
Receiver.

Greetings! My name is Jim and I've been a DIRECTV subscriber since 1999. My
satellite setup is a bit complicated, utilizing 2 AT9 5-LNB dishes and a
Zinwell 6x8 multiswitch, because of numerous trees around my house. I also
have two attic-mounted UHF antennas for over-the-air HDTV reception with my
HR20 and HR10-250 DVRs, a real challenge with all of the hills and trees here
around Seattle. When I'm not watching my DVRs you can usually find me with the
family -- swimming, running, or gardening. In order to fund these hobbies I do
some real work, too, as a Product Planning Manager with Agilent Technologies
signal analysis products.

Hi, My Name Edmund Burke. I have been a DIRECTV subscriber for over ten years.
I wouldn't trade DIRECTV or the DVRs for anything else out there.: ) I have a
thing for remote controls. I own over 200 of them, mostly universals. And I
like helping people, so helping people with their remotes kills two birds with
one stone. Have worked in the retail sector most of my life, selling almost
everything. I am single, now share a home with my father.
I hope to be of
some help on these forums.

I am retired, both from the US Army (where I worked with the Nike Hercules and
Patriot missile systems), and from technically related civilian careers in
aerospace and telecommunications. I have been a DIRECTV customer for over ten
years. My hobbies and interests beyond DIRECTV include motorcycle touring with
my wife on our Goldwing. We have visited all 48 of the lower continental
United States and most of the Canadian Provinces on the bike, and look forward
to further travels. I also hold an extra class amateur radio license, and am
active in some local amateur activities. I have owned one or more personal
computers continuously since I bought my first one in 1977 when they first
appeared, and am reasonably computer proficient. I have also been an active
volunteer member of a local Search and Rescue organization for the past 18
years, participating in both urban and rural/wilderness searches for subjects
ranging from lost hikers to wandering dementia subjects and missing children.

I've been a DirecTV customer (originally through Pegasus) since 1995. As my
user name would imply, I am British and living in Texas, near Dallas. I am a
Marketing/Sales consultant working mainly with software companies, but have a
background in electronic engineering and in development of software for
computers embedded in military and telecommunications systems. Interests
include football (real football, soccer to most of you!!), hockey, photography
and gardening - creating an English-style garden using Texas plants!

For the last 30 years I've worked in the electronics industry on both the
hardware and software sides. I've worked on a variety of projects from some
of the very first 8-bit microcomputers to VOD systems, solid-state DVRs for
police cars and most recently in-flight entertainment systems for the airline
industry. After work I enjoy repairing and restoring old telephones and telephone
switching equipment, boating, fishing, and trying to keep up wth my grandson.
My DirecTV setup is pretty simplistic right now, although that doesn't stop
my wife from complaining about "all those wires". I still use my
original (1995) self-installed 18" round dish, only recently converted
from a single to a dual-output LNB, and an R15-500. My original RCA receiver
still works, but has been put out to pasture by the R15. I came to the forums
in January with a question about my then brand new R15 and decided that I
could both learn from them and contibute as well.
