Here is an update: After I finally got all the PCs connected and visible and found that the performance was too slow to work I ignored it for a few days. Yesterday I tried it again. Now I am back to not seeing the menu option at all. I have multiple servers running from two PCs but apparently the HR22 can't see any of them. My Showcenter, which is running off the same bridge, works fine and sees all the servers. This product definitely isn't ready for prime time. For now I will just use the Showcenter and wait for a new version of Media Share.

I'm new to the forum - I'm pleased with using media share. Have an hr22 hooked to my laptop using Intel core 2 duo processor and windows vista. Installed Tversity (very easy install) and did the network connect on the hr22. It worked first try. My wife is from Germany and I have a number of German TV stations streaming with a pretty good picture and very few problems. I also have streaming radio stations. My music from window media player works fine. Also stream youtube sites and pod casts. The only problem I have is with my pictures. They play fine and look good on by 52" LCD . However, the only way I can get them to play is using the shuffle function. I have thousands of photos in one sub-directory. So I guess I have to go through them all and make many sub-directories. I really like Tversity.

My experience is:
All the above sharing methods eventually make connnection and visiblity to networked media, however the performance for photos is too slow to bother with anything but a slide show for the kids. Video playing works for 30 second clips (in native format - MPEG2) or via a streamer (e.g. Orb). but does not work for any real video (such as a 30 minute show). All from a honking machine.

I would be interested if anyone has found a good native format to stream from or share via WM11, Orb or such that works better.

I presume someone is monitoring this before it is GA code but for now it's more of an alpha than a beta.

I have similiar issues with my HR22, I am running windows vista home premium with windows media share. My computer sees the dvr and the dvr at times after rebooting or resetting sees the computer. I have used the advanced set up and everything is connected and am able to get "on-demand". When I go to access my media thru the HR22 after clicking on the correct computer on the network it says there are no files. I have verified that all files are set for sharing.. Can this be a router issue.
I am using a D Link - DI 624 ( Intel Viiv verified ) ?

skydvr1229,
Responded to your separate post. "No files" seem to indicate that the HR22 sees your DVR, but something is not set up right either with Windows Media Player 11(the default application interface to the HR22) or the file sharing(probably within WMP 11).

Wow - what a mess. I just stumbled on this thread while trying to figure out my own problems with the HR-22. Mine is hard-wired. I have got it to work after many failures, but if I shut the computer down and re-start I have to also reset the HR-22 before it will not only see the network but also see the shared files. This is a huge inconvenience. I also see the Tversity server and the WMP-11 server but only the former will display files. I have got photo, music and video to work but video is downgraded.

Ususally my laborious method of getting everything to work is:

re-boot computer
open file sharing software
make sure sharing is enabled
make sure files & folders are in the shared lists/playlists etc
re-boot HR-22
go to setup and network menu and do a test - it will find network
return to live TV for a bit, then hit menu and the music/photos etc menu appears.

Some of these steps may be unnecessary but I haven't figured out which ones yet.

When playing vieo I can only operate play, pause and stop - no fast forward, which is a royal pain.

I was using a D-Link gadget previously but it also turned out toi be unreliable and every time I turned it off it would forget to re-start in HD mode.

For all the money involved in this you would thing the product would be more usable.

obeney99,
Haven't noted other posts mentioning the required restart of the DVR whenever the PC is booted. I restart my PC from time to time and just ensure that my TVersity is running and my HR20 seems to be OK with it. I was unable to get video working with WMP11 and had to go with TVersity because all of my videos are .wmv files and I needed TVersity's translator functionality. But only use TVersity for video and use WMP11 for photos/music. So I don't understand why you cannot get WMP11 to play photos/music. Yeah, the "interactive interface" software D* has on the DVR's isn't quite sophisticated to deal with the network-streamed video with a whole lot of functionality beyond play, pause and stop. Maybe they will improve this before Media Play comes out of Beta. Sorry, I can't be much more help. My knowledge of the D* DVR network features is still a work-in-progress:0)

Yesterday my DVR found my files without a re-boot, even though the computer had been on and off a few times. Maybe It's "learned" something? It even found files without WMP or Tversity running? The whole thing is still very quirky and unpredictable.
