DIRECTV TechKnow Guide General Guidelines

Join DIRECTV's community volunteer program as a TechKnow Guide in our Help Forums! Below is a list of criteria we use to choose DIRECTV TechKnow Guides. If you know someone who should be nominated to become a volunteer, please email us letting us know who that person is and why he or she should be featured!

  • Consistently Participates and Adds Value to the Community. DIRECTV TechKnow Guides are experienced DIRECTV users who are knowledgeable about our products and are enthusiastic about sharing their expertise with others in the forums. They ensure everyone with a question or issue has received a clear and helpful solution and also provide links to other useful DIRECTV resources.
  • Welcomes New Members to the Community. DIRECTV TechKnow Guides go out of their way to make sure new members to the community feel welcome and give them a hand at understanding how to use the forums. New users who feel welcome from the beginning become active and experienced veterans who contribute back to everyone in the community.
  • Respects Users. DIRECTV TechKnow Guides always follow rules listed in the Terms and Conditions and behave in a way that exemplifies how users should treat other users in the community. They refrain from choosing sides in any argument between members and report any instance of abuse, harassment, or disrespect to the community moderator.
  • Shares Knowledge. Members who have extensive knowledge of their DIRECTV receivers or know which questions to ask in order to assist another user about his or her issue are the most valuable members of the community.
  • Continues to Learn From Others. DIRECTV TechKnow Guides visit DIRECTV.com on a continual basis so they can learn about new product issues and tips being discussed in the technical help forums and gain feedback they can pass onto others and the DIRECTV staff. And as DIRECTV offers even more in the future, they want to participate and continue to learn.

Once a community member is invited to become a TechKnow Guide, he or she may be featured on the Technical Help Forums homepage for a period of time and will be designated with the following icon

TechKnow Guides have a wealth of information to share from personal experience but are not moderators of this site, and therefore have no administrative capabilities.
