AT&T Ebay scam
I was contacted by someone who was supposed to be a DirecTV employee. They offered to cut my DirecTV bill in half and add all the premium channels to my account if I would pay for 6 months of service up front. I had to buy Ebay gift cards and pay with them. I did all that and the premium channels were added to my service. Did I get scammed? Is this real?

If you had to pay with eBay cards I'd be very suspicious because that's a scammer's ruse. If the channels were added, and you can view them, I'd still check your DirecTV account by logging into the directly and see what the account details are.

Scam. Channels were added. They took your money and ran and you have no discounts your bill is still the same as it was.

If buying a gift card is required to get a deal, it's a scam.
Gift cards are non-refundable and not traceable and a scammers payment of choice.

They have enough info on you to call DTV to add the premium channels at full price unless you wait a month you will be charge $10 for early removal.

I fell for the deal too. They paid my Bill and I got an email. They saw my last few bills and knew promotions ran out and cut my bill by almost $200 telling me all that I have now with taxes and fees. He was able to add a channel that we didn’t have and told us what was on once it was activated and I got a text. It all sounded legit since he was accessing my bill how could he do that, pay for my bill and add a premium channel. I had to buy eBay gift cards and call att billing back. It was for 4 bills paid up front and I then rest of bills pay normally. I got the eBay cards and called att they knew nothing. Spent hours on phone got nowhere. Just told me bill was paid (why would they do that) and will be charged for the channel they added so I had them remove it. I’m worried how they got all of this info. So bottom line I am stuck with $800 in eBay gift cards which are non refundable. I don’t shop eBay. But better off in my hands than the scammers. They called me for payment told them won’t do it and he got rude and threatened my account would be shut down and I’ll be charged $1000. My husband recorded it. I have been trying to reach fraud Dept but keep getting rerouted I can’t stand att customer service it’s the worse.

Gift cards are a scam. I fell for it. The scammers knew everything, paid my bill added premium channels and then I didn’t have any channels at all. They are very sophisticated and
at one point on hold with them they had a PPV fight on promotion which they obviously lifted from AT&T. Very concerning as it’s obvious AT&T systems are compromised. I’m out 800$. Reported this to EBay as well.

I fell for the scam too. Wish I had done my research before going out to buy the eBay gift cards and giving them to the scammer. Now I'm out $700. All I can do is report to AT&T and eBay. I'm so ashamed and feel awful. :(
