Early Termination Fee - Upgraded Equipment
Need clarification on early termination fee on upgraded equipment. I’m a long time DirecTV customer, and I understand that upgraded equipment automatically triggers a 24 month contract. I spoke with a DirecTV retention specialist last summer and they mentioned that, because I was a long time loyal customer that a cancellation for me would incur a $10/month charge for every month left on my contact, not the standard $20/month charge.
Furthermore, I read recently (can’t find the link) where upgrated appointment installation incurred a $10 month charge/month cancellation, not the standard $20 a month.
Can anyone confirm either of these? Thanks

The standard fee is $20 per month, however, there are some exclusions. It sounds like getting the fee lowered is something that's specific to the Retention department, as the fee remains at $20, even for long-time customers.
