How to I get my Dish removed & picked up?

I cancelled my service on 7/30/18 and requested my dish be removed from my driveway as it was already taken off the roof.  They sent me their recycle website, but it's only for Colorado customers and I'm in Minnesota. I told them I wasn't paying a 3rd party to remove it and wanted it gone.  They told me they submitted a request to have it picked up on 7/6/18 around 10:30am. I contacted them again around noon on 7/6 and was told it would still be pick up that day.  I waited around ALL DAY for them and they never came.  I spoke to 2 supervisors this morning who told me Direct Tv doesn't pick up dishes and they don't know why I was told they did.  I was LIED TO by 2 of their customer service reps promising the dish would be pick up.  I wasted an entire day waiting for them not knowing that they would never be coming!  Why is this okay with them??  They don't seem to care that they treated me this way!!  I submitted a complaint to the BBB, but I'm sure they won't care about that either.  I'm not paying my final bill if I am forced to pay to have this dish removed and you can be certain they will NEVER have my business AGAIN!!

Directv has NEVER removed dishes or uninstall them. Once installed they become the property of the home owner.

So why lie to me about it?

I have no idea other than those agents didn't want to listen to the rebuttal OR  they just didn't have a clue and made something up.

The recycle website is usable from other states using a shipping option for receiver/client boxes that are non returnable.

As for the receiving dish, remove the LNB as that goes to electronic recycling. The dish itself just regular metal recycling. Directv never sends someone just to uninstall or take back equipment. If a tech on site replaces something, they take back what they replaced only of course.

I'm not paying to ship their dish. I'm also not debating whether they take them or not...They LIED about coming to get it, wasted my time and then their supervisors didn't care!  That's not customer service...it's childish.

Directv will never take the dish.

www.directv.com/recycle routes you to the recycling center that does a free shipping box for non-returnable receiver/clients.

The dish you get rid of yourself, preferably by taking a local recycling center. You don't want to remove it yourself, or pay someone local (not Directv) to remove it, then leave it where it is.

You could sell it to someone,  they'll be a lot of rv people looking for an hd dish next April when the 101 standard definition satellite goes dark.

Better still, put the dish out on the curb side, someone will just take it. ive done it with and old DTV dish and a Dish Network Dish. You always have people collecting stuff like that from the curb. Generally gone within 24hrs. Faster than waiting for DTV techs to pick it up.

We have an old Direct TV  Dish (2012) on are roof and we no longer subscribe.  We are painting our house and I thought maybe I should ask the painters to take it down.  Question- If we ever decided to subscribe back to direct tv would they just use that dish or because technology changes so fast would they want to install a new one?

Take it down.  DirecTV will install a new one if you subscribe in the future.

If you get DriecTV service and do not have a dish then they would provide a new one of course. If by chance it is an older round dish (MPEG-2 for SD only) that would have to be replaced anyway as the last of the old feeds are getting shutdown April 2019.

It is usually suggested to leave the mounting plate to avoid leaks.

I've found customer "service" lies on a regular basis....  I had a dish attached to my roof when I bought my home 2 years ago. I had a new (Erie Metal) roof put on and they let me know I should not have the dish put back on the roof-putting holes in a new roof.  I let the Directv customer service know this when the roofers were done and scheduled a tech to come out to attach the dish to the side of my home (apt between 12-4pm). I took a half day off work and waited....and waited...and waited till 3:45pm for the tech to arrive. He wasn't happy because he wasn't the tech originally assigned & got called out. He asked what needed to be done.  I took him around the side of my home & showed him the dish hanging on the side- explained I just had a new roof installed & wanted the dish put back on the house - it would have to be put on the side of the house, not the roof. His response:  "If I can't attach it to the roof, I cant help you."  At first, I thought he was kidding, but no...totally serious.  He said they don't put dished on the sides of houses. Really?  He then said he could set it in the middle of my front yard, but I probably wouldn't like that. He made it clear, it was the end of the day....he wasn't supposed to have this appointment in the first place and didn't have any other options. I told him he could take the dish down the rest of the way & take it with him. His response: "nope...cant do that. I won't get paid to do that."  Need less to say, I told him to go, called the customer service and cancelled my subscription.  That customer service rep asked me if the tech had suggested installing the dish in a pole at the side of my home...nope.  Then asked if I wanted to reschedule another appointment to have another tech come out. My response - nope.  I already wasted half a day I'll never get back. Now I find out they wont take the dish. Unreal.  Anybody out there considering getting Directv and need a dish?  Ever since ATT took over, this service has gone straight down hill.

Right you own the dish and everything but the receivers to do what you want,  this has been DTV policy since it started long before AT&T took over.

Directv used to be very user friendly.  It was easy to contact them, easy to log into the system and didn't have to deal with a rep telling you something untrue.  When I called about the dish needing to be taken off my roof due to new roof install, I was told - no problem. The roofers can take it off & just call to schedule to have it reattached when I'm ready. Since I pay for the protection plan, it won't cost me anything.  When I called to schedule, I was first told it would cost me $49.00 to have a tech come to the house to reattach the dish - till I argued what I was told on a previous call.  After much debate, the rep said that since I was a long time customer, they would "waive" this fee. Great.  Then I endured a multitude of text messages through the day of my scheduled appointment, 1st informing me the tech was due between 12 - 4pm. -  then continuing to ask if I wanted to reschedule.  The last text I got at 3:39pm, had me enter "KEEP" if I still wanted the tech to show up today... um..yeah!  I just took half a day off work to be here. I then got to deal with a cranky tech who didn't want to be there because it wasn't originally on his schedule. I know this because he told me several times. He was supposed to be finished for the day when he got sent to my place.  He didn't want to take whatever time it would take to put the dish back up and so announced if he couldn't put it on the roof, he couldn't do anything...but leave.  With customer service like this, I see ATT/satellite service not lasting very long. There are way too many other options out there.

The protection plan doesn't cover dish installation or reinstallation and never did the $49.00 charge was valid that's the cost of a dish relocation and doesn't include a pole mount btw.
