I don't understand how you can have FETV but won't put on METV.

I don't understand how you can have FETV on 323 and yet you won't put on METV. I know in southern Wisconsin METV is Associated with ABC channel 27, and in Southern Texas METV is associated with ABC Channel 5. So is this an issue with ABC?

Yes and no DTV would need to get a contract to carry it but since your ABC is putting it on a sub channel DTV doesn't have the transponders to carry the thousands of sub channels out there so unless ABC moves it to the primary channel DTV may never carry it in your area unlike some areas that get it because a channel that DTV carries has it as their primary channel like Los Angeles and Seattle.

The main reason many people cannot get METV is that the local affiliate owner puts it on a sub-channel. DirecTV does not have room to add in the countless sub-channels across the country, plus how much more they would be charged to carry them. If METV is put on a existing local channel they already have then of course you would get it. But if a new local channel is added to an area (not a sub-channel), then DirecTV needs to negotiate an agreement to carry them, which means more cost and another factor for higher bills in the future.
