New App Missing Features?

Just saw there was a new DirecTV app. I'm a satellite subscriber and have struggled with the old app for nearly a decade. Originally (if it worked) you could stream any show you recorded from anywhere in the world and watch any channel. Then at some point you could only do that from the same network but could still watch anything that was on demand from elsewhere but your local channels were gone. Then they brought back local channels but only ones based on your GPS coordinates (no GPS, no locals) and not every local was supported.

Now it seems it doesn't matter whether you are on the same network or not. You get nothing that isn't on demand. And as such there is no way to download your recorded shows either. But seems I can cast? I don't remember being able to do that before. Is my understanding correct? They basically removed all the useful stuff and added casting?
