this servive blows chunks
well its good to know all the charges when i cancel. my direct tv equipment cant be properly programmed i have been considering whether i should sue or flood facebook and twitter that the direct tv equipment is so poorly designed. my channel package is over 100 dollars but because of the poorly designed programming no one can tell me what channels i should be recieving. i have tried calling a half dozen times.
the favorites list setup the "add channels i get" gives me 724 channels.???
the on demand leaves me doomed.
even in the channel guide highlighted channels are not available. if they are on my favorites list im blocked from the remove from channel list option.
badly done UPGRADE. its DOWNGRADED here
i was a direct tv customer for10 or more years before i tried dish and they are worse.
FIX these issues guys i pay way too much to sort through 724 channels to find something to watch.

As a note the only channels Entertainment has that Select does not are ESPN, ESPN2, FS1, and Pursuit. So 4 channels for that $10 difference.
All DirecTV users get access to the PPV channels. So "Channels I Get" will include them, even though you have to pay for individual views.
You get the On Demand channels based on what live channels you have. So by having SyFy 244, you get SyFy On Demand 1244.
There are a very small number of On Demand only channels such as The Anime Network 1889 that everybody gets.
Movies Extra Pack (formally known as the HD Extra Pack) provides channels 565 - 573 which includes: Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, MGM, Smithsonian, Crime & Investigation, MTV Live, Sony Movie Channel, Shorts, and HDNet Movies. Had Universal until that network completely shut down. As a bonus, HM&M was also added to the Select, Entertainment, Preferred Xtra, and Premier packages a couple years ago so even if you didn't have the pack you would still have that one channel from it.

As for the guide and favorites not correctly sorting, actually knowing the models of your boxes and what you've already tried would be nice for other customers to try and assist you.
In the meantime:
Refresh the service authorizations to the box to resolve any conflicts: www.directv.com/refresh
Red button reset the box (If this is a Client, reset the main Genie first).
If needed unplug power from the box for at least 15 seconds (dumps anything that may be stuck in memory). Again if this is a Genie system do the main box first. As this dumps the guide data it may take up to 24 hours to redownload the info from the satellite. This should not affect anything you already have scheduled to record.
Hopefully that helps. If your sorting still isn't working after this, then you might have to call DirecTV 1-800-531-5000 to see about them restarting services on their end, or arranging a replacement box/tech service call depending on what is needed at that point. This is a customer to customer forum, so though we can assist and give guidance, we have no direct access to fix anything ourselves.
