Do I need an interface box between my Genie DVR and my LG OLED C8 TV for 4K display?

You don't need an interface box. But the genie itself does not output 4k picture. 4k service requires an HR54 or HS17 Genie server and a C61K 4k client on the tv that is capable of displaying 4k. Also, there are only 3 channels broadcast in 4k. Below info outlines those channels.

Our 4K lineup consists of three channels: 104, 105, and 106, with 104 and 105 being full-time 4K channels. Check out the upcoming events available in 4K by viewing the 4K schedule. You can also search for and set up recordings for Live 4K and Pay Per View content on directv.com/entertainment.

Channel programming overview

Ch. 104 – Mix of content, including nature documentaries and original content from AUDIENCE®

Ch. 105 - Pay Per View movie channel

Follow these steps to watch a movie:
Go to the Guide to review options.Select a movie. If there is a fee, a prompt appears to accept the charge before watching. If you order before the movie starts, it begins at the time listed in the Guide. If the movie has been on for less than 30 minutes, it starts in-progress.If the movie has been on for longer than 30 minutes, you can't order it.

Ch. 106 - Event channel

No.  You'll need a C61K 4K Mini Genie connected to that TV, along with an HR54 Genie DVR or HS17 Genie Server in your setup.
