Aim meter software

My Aim meter do not come with a thumb drive for software updating.  Do I need a 64 gig thumb drive and does it need to be 2.0 USB or 3.0 USB?

Hello @satdudeGreeley

The Aim meter isn’t an AT&T product, we would advise you to check the developers site for any updates and how-to’s that you may need for your thumb drive.

That's not true. It is an AT&T product. It has the DircecTV logo stamped right on it. Since AT&T bought DTV a couple of years ago, they're one and the same. It can be obtained here https://www2.satinstalltraining.com/ if you work for an authorized ATT/DTV dealer and have a login. If you are a tech that does contract work for a dealer, you can ask them to provide it. Or you can go here https://blog.solidsignal.com/news/new-aim-meter-firmware-available/ for AIM 4.2 build 400 which is the database, but you also need the application.

Please see my notes below. (BUSYCHILD) Updating the meter is easy once you get around the WinZip encryption issues.

Hello folks, There seems to be a lot of discussion regards to being able to update the aim meter easily. Here is my experience:

0) This is beyond frustrating for something so easy (so it seems)

1) Opened the zip file in WinZip, download it onto a known good thumb drive did the usual set up steps on the meter and it failed.

2) Opened the zip file in 7-zip, as someone in another forum mentioned this. download it onto a known good thumb drive did the usual set up steps on the meter and again it failed.

3) Opened the zip file in WinRaR, download it onto a known good thumb drive did the usual set up steps on the meter and it worked perfectly.............

WinRar is free @ Cnet.com and other sources.

Note: operating system in Win 7, 64 bit if this helps anyone.

Peace and happy installations.
