Can I RF between a Directv modem HR54-500 and a RC66RX remote?

I have a Directv HR54-500 modem and a RC66RX remote control.

Can I program both of them to use RF instead of IR? --my modem is out of line of sight.

No.  The RC66RX remote is not compatible with the HR44/HR54/HS17 RF protocol, only infrared.  You need to use an RC7x remote model.

Most direct answer I got. Thank you!

And because of your answer I now know about FR protocols. I will buy un
RC7x remote control; they are not expensive and I can always return it if
it does not work.

We need DIRECTV to update it, so the RC66RX remote can work in RF, and that it’s colored buttons work as well. Who’s with me?

DTV no longer makes RC6X remotes so they will never control the new Genie or minis

However, some websites still have them, so it could be possible

no, it's not possible. The two remotes use entirely different RF technologies. The new RC7 series won't control pre-HR44 receivers or dvrs so you need to be able to buy the RC6 remotes as replacements for those older receivers
