Downloaded Movie Will Not Play On Cabled Mini Genie In Other Rooms
Downloaded a Movie On Demand (2-day rental) to play with family over Christmas, but could not get movie to play in other rooms (in basement) that have cabled Mini Genie units. It would play in the main room (main floor) with the Genie DVR and a cabled Mini Genie. Frustrated because this should not be happening, and I'm paying money each month for DirecTV services that do not work as advertised.

Hi @PeodCstmr!
We'd love to help you here! Have you ever shared playlist between your receivers? If sharing is turned off, that will prevent other TVS from having access to different playlist. To get started, go to any TV in the Whole- Home network and press MENU on your remote control, select Settings&Help > Whole -Home > Share Playlist. From this menu, you can change the share playlist setting.
You can view this article to get tips on Set up DIRECTV Whole Home DVR and also this article to get tips on how to fix issue with DIRECTV Whole Home DVR.
Let us know if this helps!

Thanks for the replay; however, Sharing of the playlist is turned on. I can see the playlist. I can select the downloaded movie, but then the screen just goes dark (like it's trying to start the show, but the streaming is not working or the DVR is unable to stream). It does not work as advertised for me. Still an unhappy and pee-od customer ...

Perhaps you downloaded a 1080p resolution movie and that TV doesn't support 1080p@24fps. Change the available resolutions setup on that DirecTV box to uncheck the 1080p box and see if it works then.

Hey there,
Have you tried resetting your main Genie DVR? If not please check out this Restart/Refresh Your Equipment support article. Additionally, did you order the title from your main receiver or online? We look forward to hearing back from you!

All of our TVs are HDTVs, and they all support 1080p. Resolution is not the problem - streaming from the Main Genie/DVR is the problem. The movie streams perfectly fine to the Mini Genie sitting next to the Main Genie/DVR, but it does not stream to either of the two Mini Genies downstairs in our basement. That tells me it is not capable of streaming to any Mini Genie that is not within 5 ft of the Main Genie/DVR. Nothing else is different other than the distance from the Main Genie/DVR to the Mini Genie we were trying to use. Bottom Line, IMO: the Whole Home DVR equipment doesn't work as advertised - it should probably be called Half Home DVR ... not happy.
