I have hr44-200 dvr. if i upgrade dvr will i lose what i have stored on old dvr?
and if so, how can it be saved?

Yes. If you replace or upgrade your HR44 you will lose its recordings. There's no way to transfer them, other than the "old fashioned" method of recording them to a VCR, DVD Recorder, or PC with video capture hardware/software.

Recordings are encrypted to the DVR and may not be transferred. VCR recording or any other recording that doesn't get blocked by HDCP is the only option if replacing a DVR.
There is no "upgrade" to the HR44 as the Genie is DirecTV's highest level of equipment. The Genie-2 (HS17) is actually a downgrade for most Genie users because it forbids other HDDVRs from being on the account.
A warranty replacement for the HR44 'might' provide an HR54 depending what is in stock. The only benefit of the HR54 over the HR44 is supporting a 4K Client. If you were to do a 4K upgrade for the Client, the HR44 would be complimentary swapped to the HR54 to be compatible. As there are only 2 true 4K channels (3 if you count the PPV one), I personally wouldn't sacrifice the capability of a full HDDVR for a Client.
