DVR remote "pausing"
Every now and then, the remote for our DVR "pauses". I'm watching something and want to pause or fast-forward. Hit that button, nothing happens. For the next couple of minutes, pressing buttons on the remote does nothing... until, suddenly, all of those button presses come back all at once. And this kept happening after I swapped remotes from another TV.

Know Firmware problem look to see if your running 0x14D5 if so doing a Menu -search of CLEARMBOX will correct that issue (type) in search CLEARMYBOX and your receiver will reboot

This indicates your DVR is getting overload by inputs from somewhere else. What receivers do you have and are you connected to the internet?

@goldw1800 I do indeed have 0x14D5 I did what you said, the DVR rebooted, came back up... and I still have 0x14D5, but now the menus look different. So I guess I'm not sure if this fixed it, or did something else, or...???

Problem still exists, and last night was worse than ever. Note that 'CLEARMYBOX' did NOT change the firmware. What does?

You still have the current firm Software (national release)--Clearmybox reloads the software plugin's only -it does not change the firmware --D*TV controls the Firmware --it should be replaced in the next couple of weeks --When a New NATIONAL release is pushed

So how do I fix this ongoing issue with the remote "pausing" for several minutes at a time?

If it's a bug in the current national release, you can't. But I am not convinced that's the problem, because it does not seem to be happening to other people with the same release, if people had a hangup of several minutes everyone would be complaining. So let's look for something else.
Is your system connected to the internet and if so how?

goldw1800 stated it's a "known firmware problem".
Of course it's connected to the Internet. What, exactly, would that have to do with the remote?

Because if you have more than one connection to the internet, your receiver gets overloaded with requests it can't handle and the result is it locks out the remote. It's a well known problem.

Do another reboot or just a restart the receiver --each time it happens -no need for a clearmybox at this point --I assumed once you did that it cleared for awhile. so just reboot the receiver

A few people reported this:
If your running 0x14D5-that is a Firmware issue --what will clear it is using the remote --menu-search (TYPE) CLEARMYBOX -Then press enter --then search all --your receiver will reboot --and it will take 24 to 48 hrs for the Full guide and VOD --No recording will be lost --only effect anything your currently recording --do it after it's finished recording
