Genie Going Bad?

Does anyone know the symptoms of a Genie needing replacement?  Mine is now 8 years old and having problems like momentary audio dropout and signal hanging on several different stations.  I have refreshed and reset many times both from my end and via tech support.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Possibly need a replacement. But 8 years, what model Genie do you have?

Oops!  It's only a little over 5 years old when I switched to HD.  Just a "Genie". Don't see a model number.

Model number is inside the access card door. Also going into settings and info usually can pull the number on screen as well. There have been a few different "Genie" models, so this would help determine any difference you might be ready for with a replacement if not the same exact model.

With the refresh and resets you have done and issue is still continuing, it does sound like it needs replacing. Delivery is $19.95, covered if you have the optional equipment protection plan.

Be aware that just like any other DVR replaced, the recordings do not transfer because they are encrypted to the box that recorded them.

Hi again.  My Genie model is HR44-700.  Does anyone know of issues with this model?  Thanks.

HR44 is the 2nd generation Genie. That mode is fine (huge improvement over the HR34).

A warranty replacement will get either the HR44 or HR54, depending on stock. Minor differences in design on those two models so doesn't really matter which one you get for a warranty swap.

I would verify that the coax coming into the box is finger tight first, just to be sure it wasn't a connection issue.

Sorry I can't be of any help. I actually googled "can direct tv genie go bad, and it brought me to this forum. I have 3 genies and for some reason I have to reset almost everytime. When I turn tv and genie on,sometimes it gives me weird pink screen, or it takes for ever to start up. It's like having bad internet.

So yes if anyone has same issues, please let me know. Have a wonderful day/weekend
