Getting a new Genie system
I have the Genie system that handles up to 5 and am upgrading to the Genie 2 that handles 7 tvs, with this upgrade will I lose my shows/movies that I have DVR'd but not had a chance to watch yet?

Yes, recordings are non transferable and encrypted to the hard drive they were recorded on.

You will lose the recordings on every HDDVR you have, not just the Genie. The Genie-2 does not allow anything but Clients so is hard capped at 7 tuners. A Genie and 2 HDDVRs is 9 tuners. So for most the Genie-2 is actually a downgrade, especially with the post launch issues.
The only benefit of the Genie-2 over the regular Genie line is it can support 2 TVs at the same time using a 4K channel, as opposed to the HR54 only able to stream to 1 TV (via Client connection). As there are only a couple true 4K channels, I consider this a minor perk.
