HR24 Resets Every 2 to 3 Hours

My recorder is constantly resetting.  For several minutes beforehand, the recorder does not act on any remote commands or start a saved recording request.  During this time period the AV is working.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

Your hard drive is failing, which is causing the HR24 to act slow and nonresponsive. If you own the receiver, you may be able to replace the HDD by yourself and save a bit of money but if it is leased please request a replacement.

Not sure how this can save him money. Directv will replace this free of charge. However, he might end up having to take a genie 2 and a client since directv is not sending out replacement HR24s.

@TexasBrit the reason I say is because DTV charges shipping costs for the receivers to be shipped to the OP and if they don’t want to pay that and their HR24 is owned, they could possibly just replace the hard drive themselves to save time and the cost of shipping.

It is still against the TOS to open any DTV receiver.

weaknees.com can replace the hard drive.

I have an external hard drive connected.  Is the internal hard drive being used at all?  I will disconnect the external drive to see if that fixes the problem.

You are correct the external drive replaces the internal so it is not in use.
