Is my receiver capable of receiving 4K or do I need another piece of hardware?

I recently purchase a Sony XBR65X850F model UHD 4K TV. I presently have the HR5400-200 model receiver connected to the new TV. Is this receiver capable of receiving 4K inputs or is another model or piece of hardware required to receive 4K quality picture on my TV?

While the HR54 receives the 4K channels it can't output them in 4K as the the HDMI port was changed while it was to far into production.  You have to get a C61K mini with the additional $8.00 fee.

The additional TV/Client fee is $7, not $8. It is a flat $7, not $7.99.

If you have more TVs on the service, please post the models of all your boxes.

If you only have 1 TV, do not upgrade to 4K. It only works through the Client connection so would bill as if you had 2 TVs, just for the 2 channels. This is because the HR54 was too far into production when the 4K requirement updated to HDMI 2.0 so they couldn't scrap the entire line and instead quickly came out with a newer Client with the updated hardware.

no see it is not Bill the hr54 model doesn't provide 4k you will need a 4k client install to the tv. As well you will need a dtv tech to move the box as well since the hr54 has the SWM built into the box and not external. Unless if you can switch some ports for the cabling yourself hope i could help
