Locals on 119 Satellite

My friend has a standard receiver just like I do and we both have a round 18 inch dish. We both go to the same campsite. He gets locals from his home but I don't. Anybody have a idea why?

your locals are beamed from the 119 satellite at TPD 22.  You will need at the very least an 18x20 triple sat dish.  This is assuming of course that you are within range of the spot beam

are you both coming from the same market?  You could be either out of spot beam range, your locals might be MPEG4 or your locals may come from the 119 sat

what is your zip code?

My only thought was our locals are like from 16-56 and his is probably in the higher channels like 380's.

"Locals" on the 380 range are not actually locals but rather DNS feeds.  They are not available to everyone

So that's probably why he gets them. I tried a oval dish but could find the 110 but not the 119. When I found the 119 I couldn't get the 110. We're not really in a open area so that's probaly why also. Just lucky guess to get the 110.

The receiver we have is a   Model: D10-300 if that matters at all.

well the 110 is irrelevant as is being used for Puerto Rico.  You need the 101 and 119

Yes, your right. Oops it would be the 101. So without a 18x20 dish I won't get them I take it?

Correct.  A round dish only gets the 101.  The 18x20 gets all three 101, 110, 119. But again, the 110 is irrelvant
