New DIRECTV customer questions: channel guide and Genie control box
I have a few quick questions about my new DIRECTV Genie box and operations that I can't find the answer for in my information book left by the technician.
1. How do I know if a show is a first run (new) or a repeat in the guide.
2. Can I turn on a clock on my Genie control box so it shows the time?

1. When you view the detailed Guide information for that show, it should indicate the "original air date". That date will tell you if it's first run or a repeat. But realize that this Guide data is only as good as the information provided by the station/network, and some of them are pretty sloppy about it. Additionally, if provided, the Genie DVRs will show the Season and Episode Number in the program description. For example "S1:E4" means Season 1 Episode 4.
2. No, there's no way to display time on the Genie front panel. Or any other DirecTV DVR/Receiver.
