If you can find one, you can use the AM21 Off Air Tuner Accessory connected to your main Genie DVR.  Then your C61 will also have off-air channels.

It looks like over the air tuners are available for sale for about $47 on eBay. Here's the like to one of many... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Premium-HD-TV-Tuner-For-Air-Digital-Channels-1080p-HD-SD-Video-Output-/121386526948?hash=item1c433368e4:g:Gk4AAOSwGzlTxNvF

@cbarker unfurtunately that one does not work with DIRECTV.  Only the AM21 does.

My AM21 off-air tuner worked fine with my Genie HR44-500 receiver in FL.  However, I have moved to Cincinnati and the Genie receiver will not see the off-air channels.  It seems to be setting up OK, shows "antenna" in the Setup section, and recognizes my zip code as the Cincinnati area, but when done, and when looking at "channels I get", there are no extra channels visible -- only the basic  channels available through the DirecTV dish.  What am I doing wrong?

DTV has dropped support for the AM21 and hasn't updated the data base in years so it is either not able to get to the data base or the new GUI may not even have the software for the AM21 tuner.

OTA to DirecTV box options discontinued years ago. Though some may still work, but with old info.

Cannot connect an OTA antenna to a Mini Genie (like C61K) as it is a Client, not a receiver.

OTA antenna would need to connect to the receiver, like your main Genie with the AM21 (if you can find one). However, updates for the database and support for the accessory were stopped years ago. It is suspected that like other outdated features (such as Caller ID on TV), the new GUI does not include the software for discontinued options. So if you have an HR44, HR54, or the HS17, do not expect this option to work once it is updated to the new GUI.

But it worked fine in FL (32003 zip code) three weeks ago!  It's the same equipment and cables in Cincinnati as in FL, and system seems to recognize the AM21, as "settings" offers the "Antenna setup" option.  The system appears to download the guide, but the off-air channels don't appear.  Any other suggestions?    Thanks.

make sure the zipcode is set correctly

it doesnt scan, it looks at specific channels as defined in the database

the channels may not be the ones in the database, and so wont be seen

OTA for directv is currently dead, use your tv's tuner to watch OTA

there is a rumor of a new one coming for the new genies, but its just a rumor so far

It is possible that DTV has removed the data base.

Don't see a need to store one, AFAIK during setup the zip code is sent to wherever the data base is to find the locals and it sends back the locals that are then stored on the AM21.
