Saving Current Settings

I have a Genie Reciever installed in August 2013 and it is in need of some help. I expect the technition to tell me the unit needs to be changed out. I have my current system programed to automatically record shows as they air on TV. Not knowing where the settings are stored for the desired recording  sessions, will these settintgs be lost with a new reciever. If so, how can i back them up to be restored later?

Thank You. I was afraid that would be the answer and those aren't the words I had hoped to hear.

Then what? (after taking pictures of the list) What good does that do?

it lets you see them so it will be easier to set up in the new unit

I just finished taking the pictures. That will give me a list of programs and channels I recorded on. At best this falls far short of a well designed system. Data is pretty easy to move from place to place and then store it. Genie takes me back to pencil an paper records.
