No, the King VQ 41OO is an SD only dish, the HR54 needs a SWM dish

DirecTV is shutting down their MPEG-2/SD-only feeds. So the VQ4100 will not be compatible with anything DirecTV anymore.

You need a slimine SWM dish on a tripod/sled mount, or the Winegard Trav'ler.

iIf what you say is true, then way is King Quest still selling New and refurbished SQ4100 from the factory?

@twaallen

The MPEG-2 shutdown is not yet complete. So, King Quest can use this time to unload old stock while it may technically work in some areas for a limited time.

Also, those domes are for other providers. If you look at their page:

Service compatibility:

DIRECTV® SD programming (does not receive DIRECTV HD programming)
DISH® HD & SD programming
Bell ™ HD & SD programming

MPEG-2 is SD-only. So those domes will work for other providers, but not DirecTV anymore.
