DIRECTV stream app video quality on Amazon Fire TV Omni series

I am unable to get clean streaming video when used on my new Amazon Fire TV omni series.  Video appears to have missing frames and doesn’t stream smooth.   I have the tv connected via hard wire to a one gigabyte connection.  Other apps do not have this problem.  

I have cleared Cache, cleared memory, even uninstalled the app and re-downloaded it.

It could be an issue with your Amazon Fire TV I know sometimes I have issues with streaming Directv on my Fire Stick and the picture quality is not as nice as when I stream with my Roku and my Directv Stream Box.

I have this issue on all 4 of my Omni TVs. I have called directv 3 times over a span of 3 weeks for support and been told each time it would be escalated and I would be contacted in 72 hours,  but I never receive any contact or further information. All I can assume is that it is a compatibility issue with the TV and their app. Other streaming services work fine. Hopefully they can do something about it other than ignore their customers. I am likely to cancel service over this issue, it is so bad.

I have the same problem with choppy video on my Fire Cube and 4K Fire sticks.  It's especially noticeable during sports where there is a lot of motion.  I switched to a Roku Ultra and it solved the problem.  It seems there is a problem with the Fire TV app not handling the video correctly.

I have had this issue with multiple Amazon FireTVs, across resets and checks for the latest software/firmware of all hardware and software components in the system including installing a new router for an unrelated issue (poor wireless coverage in some areas in my home). It is not likely caused by something in my specific network, hardware, or software environment.

Do directv representatives monitor this forum?  Can someone from directv confirm whether there is a known issue with the directv stream app running on the firetv omni series? Is this issue planned for an upcoming app update?  If not, then I will need to look into other options, like a separate box, or cancel my service.

@houcha1 if there was a widespread issue then all of us with that streaming device would experience it. You’ll need to follow simple troubleshooting steps like rebooting the Omni Fire TV device, reinstalling the application, checking for updates, making sure you have an adequate internet speed, etc.

@detuch254 Do you have an Amazon omni firetv that is not experiencing this issue? I'd be curious to compare your system info and software/firmware versions if you would be willing to share.

As I mentioned in a previous post on this thread,  I have gone through all of the recommended troubleshooting steps multiple times and those do not solve the issue.
