DIRECTV Stream Home Network Issue

I live in the Easton, KS (66020) area, out in the country. I have DIRECTV Stream with my own home network. There is nothing else around me that has another IP address that could get confused with the one my home network is established with. My DIRECTV Stream home network is established using the IP address from the router I use, which I got from "CenturyLink" who also provides our phone & internet service through a fiberoptic cable that runs out here in the country where I am at. For some reason DIRECTV Stream keeps switching (on its own) from the home network (established with my zip code 66020) to another IP address several times a year. Thus causing me to have to keep changing the location back to the correct home network. Thus, using up all of the 4 Home Network corrections you get for a 12 month period. The IP address that it switches to belongs to "CenturyLink" located in Kansas City, MO (Our phone & internet provider). I'm using up my 4 Home Network corrections per 12 month period due to no fault of my own. Can DIRECTV Stream please stop doing this and fix this issue which is costing me and possibly have to drop DIRECTV Stream, which I don't want to do. I am a retired US Army veteran. I moved out to country to be left alone and not have these kind of problems.

I think you will find that your Internet provider is switching your IP, to one that is assigned to a different area other than your local area. That is a common practice unless you have a static address assigned to your home router, by your Internet provider. That is what causes your locals to change. Just like in my case, I have a home in Florida and I get my Orlando locals there. I go to my summer home, in Maine, and the IP assigned to me from that Internet service causes me to get Portland locals.

As far as a solution no one here would know. It appears that DirecTV Stream's current method to assign locals appears to be from the Internet provider's assigned IP address to your router.

To caveat off my original issue above, every time this happens I lose my authorized 20 simultaneous streams and drop to only 2 TV streams & 1 devise at a time.

DirecTV Stream does not change your IP address. That is done by your Internet provider. Your router only assigns local addresses to your devices on your home network. It sometimes can be made static, same one all the time, by your provider, but may cost to do so.

I didn't say DirecTV Stream changed the IP address. I said DirecTV Stream keeps switching from the IP address established with my home are zip code to the one specified in Kansas City.

In other words, DirecTV Stream keeps switching from the established & correct home network to this other location all on its own. Thus, thinking I'm at another location using a different network & in the long run costing me.

So in other words I need to get a static IP address from them.

Is DirecTV Stream working on a solution to deal with type of issue since I know I'm not the only one this happens to and using up all 4 of the home network corrections you get per year?

Nope. They have no reason to work on a solution that is not their problem. Home location is based on your billing zip code and the IP address of the device. If your provider is changing your IP address, that is their issue, not DirecTV Stream.

Hello @armymtnbiker we want to help with the connection on your devices.

"In-home streaming" feature works by identifying your home network through the internet IP address, so we recommend that you contact your internet provider to ensure you have a static IP address.

Also, please keep in mind you're allowed to change the main home network 4 times in a year.

I have a question about your Comment above “Also, please keep in mind you're allowed to change the main home network 4 times in a year.” Does this mean I can’t use Directv Stream after 1 trip …. = 1st at home, 2nd at Arizona condo for 2 months, 3rd time back home? Or does coming back to my original home network after each vacation not count as a change?
