If it's not offered in the LG TV app store then you can't.

I was afraid of that. Luckily, I already had one. Was hoping to turn it back in. Thanks.

The app needs to be introduced for LG smart TV's or they are missing a large part of the market.

@Dogwalker123 , not likely. They're having a hard enough time keeping the app working on the existing supported devices. Witness the variety of issues with the Samsung TV app.

@litzdog91 I hope your wrong and they invest in the software engineers necessary or they won't last long in a competitive market.

I hope they never do! For $30-$40 you can get a true streaming device and enjoy. Not worth the hassle to support another lower tier device.

I agree with @bcbsncjlj . I would much rather that DirecTV focus its engineering efforts on the main platforms (Stream box, Roku, FireTV, Apple TV) than on supporting native TV apps.

I tried a couple of days ago. Only to find out  from their website that LG doesn't support Direct TV Stream at this time.

That is correct. If you still want the service then add an external streaming device.

LG is one of the major TV manufacturers and many potential customers of streaming service may highly value being able to have only one remote and while the external devices can take care of basic functions, the many additional functions that the TV remote control make it irreplaceable.  Providing an LG app, like Xfinity does for it’s streaming service, would be an effort to stay competitive in a very competitive market.

Not going to happen. They have enough issues with the current devices. Besides it's not the TV - it's the operating system that LG uses webOS.

I have 2 LG TVs. I’m switching off direct tv for Hulu as it’s much easier to do this vs. replacing brand new TVs. I expect many others will do the same. Makes zero sense to not have an app that works across multiple platforms, especially LG which has strong market share. Jeez, Everyone else has figured this out. It’s a direct tv culture and leadership issue, not a technical platform issue.

@JimB007 it's DirecTV Stream not DirecTV. They are different. I also assume you mean Hulu TV not Hulu. The 2 are also different.
