During commercials my stream pauses on its own and never restarts

During commercial breaks, my direct TV streaming service pauses on its own. If I don’t get the remote and unpause it, it will stay paused that way until it goes to black screen, and eventually times out and turns off. Is there anything that I can do to fix this? Also occasionally when this happens, after being on black screen for a long time, suddenly the audio for the programming will return, but the video does not, and just remains black screen. Also, possibly related, is that I remember I used to see those incredibly annoying “commercial break in progress” screens occasionally, and I never see them anymore ever. Wondering if it could be failing when trying to go to “commercial break in progress” screen and goes to black screen instead and just gets stuck there. Please help.

What device are you using?
Have you tried rebooting the device?

I am using Apple TV. Have rebooted. Have checked for system updates. No luck.

I had tried all of those suggestions except for uninstalling and reinstalling the app. So I just did that, and it seems to have fixed the problem. And now the “commercial in progress” screen is back too. Thanks for the help.
