How do you record extended time on a live show?

I recorded the Emmys last night and missed the ending because it didn’t record the time that went over.

Hi @bonnieduboff! I'm happy to help.

You can extend the recording time by up to 3 hours. We can easily do that using your DIRECTV remote. You can follow these steps:

1. Press MENU on your remote.
2. Go to Recordings and select View Playlist.
3. Select Manage Recordings.

You can learn more by clicking here

Please let us know how it goes.

This response must NOT be for DirectTV STREAM Device, because there is no MENU on the remote.

Any chance someone could clarify?

As is far too common, @DIRECTVhelp doesn't bother reading what forum a question is posted to - or for that matter, read the post itself.  Useless, useless, useless...

Unfortunately, there is currently no way to extend a recording.  That feature has been requested for years, but for unknown reasons they have never added it.  (They have added automatic extension for some sporting events, but that doesn't help things like this.)  The only workaround they offer is the suggestion that if you expect a program might run long, you also record the following program.

Perhaps now that the service is out from under AT&T they will decide to expend some money/effort on enhancing the features.

Hi @jnew2k, thanks for following up.

In order to give you an accurate solution, please create a new post through this link https://direc.tv/3EFd1r9

and we'll get it from there.
