Sound Fades Out but Improves When Channel is Switched

Sound occasionally drops out to a garbled sound. We can switch to a different channel and sound comes back correctly. We switch back to the original channel and sound is OK until the next time it drops. This happens about once per day. We had a similar problem with an older Samsung TV until the sound went completely out. Thinking that was the problem, we replaced the TV with a new Samsung.

What we've done so far is reboot the ATT router, replaced all the cables with high quality Monster cables, and cleaned the cable connections with electronic cleaner.

I just don't know if it might be another TV problem (seems possible but not likely), or perhaps it is from the DIRECT TV system. Seems a diagnostic from DIRECT TV is in order. We live in a rural area and may be the last customer on our cable line.

What streaming device are you using?

If you're using the Samsung TV's DirecTV Stream App, then that's likely your problem. That App is junk. Lots of posts here. You'll have much better experience with a $30 Roku or Fire.

Thanks. We have a Roku device. We are wondering if that might be the problem as it is the same one we used for both televisions.

How is the Roku connected to your TV? Soundbar? AV Receiver?

Check the Roku's Audio Settings. If your Roku is just connected to the TV, set the Roku to output "Stereo" instead of "Digital Audio". Make sure you don't have features like "Audio Leveling" or "Night Mode" enabled.
