DIRECTV App and Local Channels

I’m on vacation in Hawaii and can’t access my local channels for Dallas from the directv app. Works fine when I’m in Dallas. I called directv and their answer was that I can’t access local channels when I’m out of town. I don’t believe that as the whole point of the app is to be able to access your programming from anywhere (except maybe out of country).
