I cannot watch DirecTV on my Mac computer - See my screenrecording

Trying to watch NFL this morning on my Mac running Mojave was a total fail.  There has to be a better way to do this.  Since the AT&T/Directv site merge a bad situation has gotten worse!  I've enabled Adobe Flash Player in Preferences->Websites->Plug-ins.  I've installed the wacky Cisco Directv Player that does the authentication failures for AT&T/DirecTV.  I've tried both Safari and Chrome.  I've signed into my accounts and signed out of my accounts.  And by the way, I've missed the game I wanted to watch online.  Checking my last bill, I'm paying $171 per month to enjoy this experience.

Any other Mac users ready to toss this solution?

Ok

I fixed I fixed it on my Mac ( running Mojave as well)
navigate to library folder >Cisco folder
find the video guard player folder and delete the whole thing. Then I went to direct TV website and tried to stream a channel figuring the website will install the player. Which it did. Then tried to stream had an error once or twice then refreshed the page and it works now. Hope that helps!!

@GreggM

Thanks for the tip about deleting the ~/Library/Cisco/VideoGuardPlayer folder.  Using Chrome, I did the following to finally watch NFL Channel on my computer to catch highlights of the game I missed 💩😡 in just 10 not-so-easy steps:

1) Deleted VideoGuardPlayer folder

2) Logged into my Directv.com account (carefully avoiding any stupid re-directs to AT&T or myAT&T or att.com as all of these lead to not DirecTV watching).

3) Click on Guide -> Watch Online

4) Scroll down to the channel I want to watch and click it

5) Chrome will ask to install/enable Adobe Flash (which I already had installed).  Just click Install Adobe Flash to get to the enabling Flash Option.

6) Once you get through this, you'll be asked to install the CiscoVideoGuard and have the option to download.  I received a disk image file called, "CiscoVideoGuard.6.8.dmg", not "DIRECTV_Player.dmg".

7) I open the disk image and double-clicked the "CiscoVideoGuard6.8.pkg" installer.  I was presented with this lovely error message: "'VideoGuard6.bundle' is not optimized for your Mac and needs to be updated."

😎 I reloaded the web page to get the CiscoVideoGuard software to load.

9) If everything goes correctly, you should have the name of the channel you want to watch "Free / In Your Package" with a Watch Live button.

10) Click the Watch Live button.  This should stream the channel you want.

@AT&T/DirecTV team, great experience! Smiley Wink You can do better.  There's no way my parents or a novice user would be able to pull of the above without calling in for Technical Support.

Hi @guido79,

Were you accessing NFL Sunday ticket app or just local channel games, and are you able to view any other networks? We look forward to your reply!

Hi Gregg,
I was online with support for an hour and a half trying to fix the recorder to watch online on my macOS Sierra 10.12.6 using Safari and tried Chrome.
The first attempts gave me the Cisco player, did not work.  I removed and tried again and it did the same thing.  I have completely deleted
the Cisco player and constantly got ,Player says sorry we encountered an error please restart player ( which is a hyperlink) you click it and it does the same thing.
Support says I didn’t remove the player(Cisco) because if I did I would get a prompt to download
Direct player.  I do not have anything downloaded to watch online and now
when I click on watch online I get a black screen  and nothing else.

I had the same error--its the Cisco Player that is the problem I did the same thing and customer support was no help either.

Do you know how to find the Library in Finder? open finder window click GO from top menu--WHILE holding the option key down, and you will see the Library selection--choose it.

then open Cisco folder in Library. Delete the Video Guard Player folder entirely. then I would also delete all your internet history files, then go signin at direcTV, choose watch live TV click on. news channel or something....and then see what happens. after it downloads you may have to restart the browser again as well--- Let me know!

I was finally able to solve this issue of DirectTV not streaming on MAC OS 10.14.3 Mojave by uninstalling the Directv player under applications (found after doing a spotlight search), then installing the VLC player:  https://download.cnet.com/VLC-Media-Player-64-bit/3000-13632_4-75761094.html.  Also make sure Adobe Flash Player is enabled, clear the cache and restart browser.  Works now for Safari, Chrome, and Firefox.

@jeremyjp74; I had the same issue and just needed to quit and restart my browser a few times.  The key is to make sure you have everything installed correctly and your Genie is on the same Wifi Network. You can verify this by launching the VLC app and verifying you can see your Directv2PC Media Server under Local Network Universal Plug'n'Play.  From there, it's just a matter of double-checking software setup:

...rub your belly while you scratch your ball sack, and dance the merengue to cinnamon girl while your dog pees on your face, and it will work fine.

trying to watch the Gold cup final 2021 8/1/2021 and I cannot watch on my computer. Ive tried safari, chrome, and Firefox. I've reloaded the page, I've restarted my computer, checked for updates, everything, I consistently get the same message about the video player having an issue. I've even reinstalled the video player and still nothing. paying a lot of money for this to not work.
