@JANDCLINAN of course DIRECTV supports its Genie platform.  In order to watch your playlist out of home, you need a Genie connected to the internet

Directv app crashes whenever you try to play any video on an iPhone . Completely does not work on iPhone. Android does work ok, unless you have an Amazon fire TV (not supported on fire TV). You cannot play squat from a Windows PC. The "TV anywhere" apps work OK unless you want to watch the History channel or Lifetime which are also not supported on fire TV (unless you are a u-verse not directv customer for some reason) All in all very poor support for streaming on other devices.

@rncplc you don't longer need one, that device is built in on the newer Genies, the HR44/54.  The new service is called Mobile DVR

I have tried to watch on the mobile app but it will not let me. It plays about 20 secondshow and then cracks and goes back to the main screen.

NOTE: Many people have satellite service because it is thier only option. They do not have access to internet(unless you count dialup or sat) and there fore streaming is meaningless to them.  it should not even be considered a replacement for weather outage, wiating ect.

the requirement for inhome use and the dvr being connected to the internet should be re-evaluated, and removed.

I was told Genie no longer supported by Directv, waiting to see if they ever come up with the idea of dowloading straight from my reciever to my laptop or tablet

I tried to register my tablet, when I enter the reciever serial number or internet address, it tells me it can't locate the reciever (even though they are on the same network), haven't been able to watch my recorded programs on the road which was one of my wantings.

Ok, so I can use the Genie instead of the receiver DVR supplied by Directv?, and this will allow me to record my shows, and download them to my tablet and or stream while on the road? Please clarify before I tell Directv to kiss off
