Why is directv app not working on galaxy view

My Directv app on my galaxy view states my app is no longerrors supported. It takes me to Google play but there is not an update. I tried to download the non-tablet version to see what happens but no luck. Gives error 505 and says it cannot install.

Hello @Mtanner24,

We are sorry for the inconvenience you are having with the DIRECTV app. Here are a couple of tips:

 

- Ensure your account is registered at DIRECTV.com. from your computer

- The app uses the same login and account information as DIRECTV.com.

- Attempting to login to the app can be done as many times as necessary; it won't lock users out.

- Try un-installing the app, then reinstall the DIRECTV app from the app store.

- Once you are in, save your login credentials through the iPhone/iPad settings so you will not be required to log in each time.

I had DirecTv installed then I cleared the cache bc it was acting sluggish. When I went to use the DTV app it was gone (erased) when I tried to reinstall I got an error message saying that DTV no longer supports this device. My Galaxy View Tablet  is newer than my Galaxy Tab S2 inwhich is still installed & working. How is my ViewTab not supported when an older tab is?

You may want to restart your streaming device, if the DIRECTV player was previously installed, please uninstall it then clear cache and cookies again, reinstall it.

 

Also check if your device is on the  list of requirements for watching DIRECTV on a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

You can also try some troubleshooting steps that can help with accessing the app.

  • Uninstall the app
  • Re-Install the app
  • Clear the cookies and cache on your device

I uninstalled it, and now it won't even show up in the search on Google play. It was pre-installed on the app, but when I click on it, it tells me it's an older version and to go to the play store and reinstall it. And now I can't even find it in my applications to clear the cache. Do I need to take it to my local ATT store?

The DIRECTV app and the DIRECTV STREAM app are compatible with android devices with the
version OS 7.0 and later, you can check the compatible devices (

So you suddenly phase out my tablet that was preloaded with the directv app, and don't warn me? Absolutely ridiculous. Looks like I'll be switching to some other platform.

ridiculous. I myself own (2) galaxy view tablets and both have been shut out of DIRECTV APP. 

This tablet was an exclusive ATT / DIRECTV tablet with DIRECTV built into the operating System. It was sold under the DIRECTV promotion. Why in the world would ATT lock us out?

The app opens up and then requires update. 
Update opens in Play Store to show non compatible with your device

Please fix. Again this is a ATT DIRECTV tablet
SM-T677A  / Galaxy View 

The app is built into the OS. Can not uninstall or do anything related. 
As of now, we have a built in DTV app that does nothing

Would a factory reset force it to update? Maybe that would fix it?

A hard factory reset would not force a device update nor resolve a device compatibility concerns.

 

We strongly recommend that you upgrade your device to a compatible device.

You can always visit a DIRECTV outlet near you to check for available device upgrade options.

ATT DIRECTV have stated they are no longer supporting this tablet

EVEN THOUGH ATT DIRECTV SOLD IT TO YOU FOR $800 BUCKS WITH CONTRACT

basically they are saying (Edited as per community guidelines) - We got you again ! ATT
Always pulling a fast one on their customers.
