KERA channel 13 Dallas-transmission flashing in and out

Our KERA transmission is not the norm, this evening.  On both tvs in the house, the  screen flashes the received image for about a second, then goes black for 3 to 5 seconds.  I called DirecTV, and they "determined" that my issue was with the maker of the tv, Samsung.  Well, the maker of the OTHER tv in the house must also be at fault (not Samsung).  So, will DirecTV buck up and admit that there might just be an issue on their end, and not place the blame on everyone else?  I have read many blog posts this evening trying to find an answer, but just find posts about DirecTV passing the blame off on others....others that have nothing to do with the problem.  DirecTV also does not send technicians out to determine if their equipment, or the like, might be at fault (according to many blog posts....cannot comment on that from personal experience).  There are no notifications from the TV station, itself, stating technical difficulties in the area.  Is there any REAL help available?

Thanks for letting me blow off some steam.

I have the same problem OFTEN in the evenings.  It's maddening.  For years.  I will start looking for a service that can provide good reception for Channel 13.  It seems to happen in cloudy weather but I haven't kept a diary so not totally sure.  Nevertheless all the other channels are fine.  I have asked Channel 13 many times and they point to DirectV.

In general problems with one channel is a feed problem from that channel to DTVs uplink center, the local channel uses OTA, phone line or fiber to send their programs to the uplink center.

What does that mean in English and what can be done about it?

@bjhunt01

It means the issue is in the feed the channel owner sends DirecTV.

They send the feed by OTA (Over-the-air), fiber, or other line to DirecTV who in turn uploads to the satellite to beam down to the customer (you).

If the official responses from both are that it is an issue with the other, file a BBB complaint. This goes to the corporate level (at least for DirecTV). Not a guarantee it will get fixed faster, but at the very least they should confirm if the issue is on the channel's end sending it or DirecTV's receiving it. Good luck.

Renaissancedude92, I missed your post.  It’s Saturday May 13th in the middle of the day and KERA is flashing.  I’ve read the comments to your post.  Wonder if you’ve had any resolution or if it’s still flashing today? I have an LG TV, by the way. It’s an older model.  I’m going to see if I can contact KERA about it now. Maybe they have online support. Not that this matters at all, but I’ve been a supporter of theirs forever. lol!

Professor T has the final episode tomorrow, I'm hoping it's not doing this then! It's been doing it on and off for us for way over a year.

I have had this problem with KERA for a few weeks now.I suspect it's a station problem.

I have the same problem. This happens regularly. Right now it has been continuous 5/11/23 - 5/14/23. I reported it as a technical issue to KERA on 5/11. no response yet. DirecTV tech support is hapless. They don't ever have a clue. Best you can hope for is a credit on your bill.

I would suggest you contact the station and report the issue. I am sure they would like their audience to enjoy watching their broadcast.

Sigh....I have for years and never get a reply.  Time to be much more intentional I guess.

At least trying is better than doing nothing.

Correction on my Professor T post(above), it wasn't the last, still a few more to go. I spent an excruciating hour trying to view the episode early this morning. The audio still functions, but of no use when they are not speaking English and the captions flash on and off at lightning speed.  From my talk with DirectTV yesterday they came to the conclusion it was the fault of PBS not them.

I subscribe to PBS/KERA stream and this problem doesn't exist there, but it does occasionally have digital interference blips. OTA is fine, but windy days make that difficult for all channels.
