I need to be able to extend a program’s recording by an hour or 2.

There is no auto extend capability on Direct TV with Genesis. Example, when I record “Tracker”, it always starts late because of the football game earlier. I want to be able to set an extension to the recording. This problem happens almost every week!

Hi @Nolagirl999. The Cloud DVR is designed to record strictly according to the network's digital guide schedule, which means it cannot automatically add extension padding to regular series like Tracker when a preceding sports broadcast runs late.

To get the complete episode from start to finish without any missing footage, the best option is to look for the On Demand version of Tracker. The network typically uploads the full, untruncated episode to the On Demand library the following day, allowing you to stream it seamlessly at your convenience. Kenneth, DIRECTV Community Team

Schedule a recording of the next show to ensure you capture all of the desired show.

What Litzdog said is unfortunately what DTV Stream/internet customers have to do.

This seems to be one downfall of streaming providers. Hulu tries to adjust these things "on the fly" but Hulu isn't perfect. Stuff has cut off there too.

I do agree that it'd be a lot better if recordings could be extended, but I wonder if that's a limitation of the cloud and it'll never be "fixed" like how U-Verse never had Local on the 8s.
