An emergency notification with no emergency?

I'm getting a message that says the President has requested that we watch our local station.  It's force tuned to NBC and we can't change it.  I don't see any emergencies, just the Today show.  How do I shut this off?  thanks.

Yes, I'm having the same problem too! This is very frustrating! I hope they fix it soon. They should have no business controlling the station we are watching.

I just spoke with them.  They're taking a couple days off this month's bill.  No information is available regarding how long it will take to return the system to normal operations.  In the mean time, I can work on other things.

Totally getting a credit for this one.

My toddler is being forced to watch Kelly and Michael with Howie Mandel.

Someone call DCFS

Just got off the phone with tech support - this problem appears to only be happening in Georgia right now.

The last time I checked Austin was in Texas and we're having the same problem so your rep lied to you.

People....this is not just happening with AT&T customers. This is happening with cable & satellite customers too. I don't know why this hasn't been addressed on national news websites, but a Tampa Bay news site had an article that explained it & said that they knew the Emer. Alert System still had glitches but were not sure what they would all be. We are obviously seeing one of them. So, AT&T is not the one that can fix this....it's the ones who created the national Emergency Alert System.

Looks like folks all over the US east of the Rockies that are watching UVERSE are being affected.  If this was a rollout of a new emergency alerting system, it certainly works.  NY, TX, IL, TN, GA, VA, PA all have folks complaining about the same thing.

Kind of neat in a way.  If this does get narrowed down to a particular facility or piece of gear, you have a rough idea of what/where that piece of gear is effective.

This is happening in Austin as well.  So very frustrating.  Seems to not be isolated to one region.

I have been sitting in front of the tv for 40 min with the emergency broadcast signal going off every 5 min.  I was freaked out thinking something bad had happened or was going to happen.  Glad to hear they are working on it.  I have erronds to run so I hope it's fixed by the time I get home.
