Audio drop outs. How do I get into service menu?

My AT&T box is connected to my audio receiver with a optical digitial audio cable. My surround sound audio cuts on for a split second and back on numerious times throughout a program.

I did a google search on this problem and a direct tv forum came up to inform the person to go to

the service menu and change the digitial audio setting from auto to PCM. It did the trick for this person.

How do we get into our service menu, so I can adjust the digitial audio output on my AT&T box?

I believe the setting you're talking about is on the audio receiver end.  Instead of trying to detect what the incoming signal is and adjusting (Auto) you set it to what the TV receiver will be transmitting (PCM).  That might keep it from trying to adjust it to something it's not.

"Secret Menu"?  Never heard of such but I'm intruigued.

In the meantime, try this Menu>Options>Audio Language Options>Digital Audio Output

I meant the service menu. Sorry. That menu option only gives me the option to select stereo or surround sound, unfortunately that is not what I was looking for.

How do we get into our service menu?
