Buffering?

I have 2 receivers that are both periodically what appears to be buffering to me. The screen freezes for a second or more then starts back up skipping some of the broadcast. They are both hardwired to my network and I have fiber 1000. Seems to do it more in the evening.

There can still be interruptions to the multicast IP network packet stream that U-verse IPTV uses, either in your Gateway or in the AT&T network equipment.  You share a single fiber with a capacity of about 2.5 Gbps from the AT&T CO with several of your neighbors.  I would expect that AT&T would apply QoS to traffic such that your neighbors could not keep you from getting U-verse IPTV packets in a timely manner, but still your Gateway could have issues that could cause it to lose some packets.

Its funny that I notice U-verse TV do this only during the 6:30 evening news.  And I’m using old copper wires here.  🙃

The thing I love about U-verse IPTV is that when this happens... you notice.  It's exceptional.  I wish I could say that about Disney+, ESPN, etc.

I had a LOT of pixelation issues during the "early years" with U-Verse around 2008 or so. The issues seemed to be worse during fast movement, such as the crowd during a basketball game (camera moving fast) or confetti falling.

Of course, I also had 6Mbps then. On an HD channel, if I was using the internet then, I wonder how much of that was me or how much was U-Verse tech back then.

If the OP is complaining about buffering, I wonder if they have issues with U-Verse TV or DirecTV Stream.

Either way, calling for tech support might yield a result.
