Can AT&T sales representatives lie with impunity.

Serious question. I've taken 2 calls from people trying to sell me Directv.  I ask them if the CBS television network is available in Columbus, OH and they tell me it is. I tell them to check again and make sure and they once again assure me that it's part of the basic package. Of course, thanks (probably) to the greed of our local affiliate, CBS is not, and may never again be available on either DirectV or Uverse in Columbus. After 6 weeks, I think I'm on firm ground with that statement. Imagine the shock that someone would feel if they do convert based on the sales call, sit down to watch the Big Bang Theory with their brand new dish and discover the truth. The only logical thing for AT&T to do is declare that they will no longer pay exorbitant retransmission fees, lower all their prices by removing the TV broadcast surcharges and sell their packages sans major networks. That would be honest. These calls were essentially selling a package that doesn't exist, and that's wrong, just like it's wrong to continue charging for a product which is seriously limited with the loss of a major network. Can AT&T be permitted to continue to sell a product that doesn't exist?

A salesman's job is to make sales, not to be honest.

If I asked Charter or Xfinity if I could get NHL Network on the lowest-price tier, what would they say?

It could thereotically take a few years, but even Hallmark came back.
