Can I get all channels on uverse app if I use wifi booster?

Basic question if I get wifi booster will it cause the tv app to only get the few channels I get away from home or will I still get everything ?

The wifi will increase your distance in your home network that you can pick up all the home network channels. You would get the same channels that you get at 3 feet and 500 feet. You will only get what's on your home network.

Thanks for that info, I did not know how it would handle a booster. I cannot get a good signal in the master bathroom and as my girl friend so aptly said " that's a crappy place to be without internet".

Last I checked, you need to be on the same WIFI network as your RG to get the full range of channels offered by the U-Verse app. If you are connected to an extender, it's a different network so you only get a subset of the channels. AT*T has constantly been fine tuning this, so I could be wrong...

Actually, I would expect a range extender to not interfere with the protocols required for recognition of the RG/IPTV DVR, etc necessary for the U-verse Apps to function in-home.

However, it may degrade your signal bandwidth such that streaming video is not worth it.

Range extenders act as a repeater and just repeat the signals from the base Access Point to its clients and vice versa and don't upset the protocols at the next layer up of the network stack

Unfortunately this is incorrect. As part of their security to make sure you're actually at home the RG and/or Uverae Apps check the MAC address your connection is coming through. Unless you're connected directly to the RG's wireless you cannot use a large part of the functionality that's supposed to be there.

If I'm wrong, I'd love to know it. We pay AT&T for their largest TV package with 7 receivers and near the top end of their bandwidth...but since our bedroom is out of range from the RG, I can't use any of the functionality that AT&T expects to be used "at home". I've tried extenders, APs, etc and unless connected directly to the RG wireless you get an error message. It someone knows how to configure a setup with hardware or some way to spoof the system, PLEASE let me know...been trying to figure this out or for AT&T to "fix" this for the last two years.

I have a consumer Wireless Router that I have configued as an Access Point (see post 13 in this thread).  I am able to use the Remote Control functionality, stream videos in home, etc., without issue.
