CLOO

I have been watching CLOO for years. Today I discovered AT&T has removed it from the U200 package and I will need to change to the U300 package. I am a senior citizen living on a limited income. It is a shame AT&T appears to only care about their bottom line. In the meantime, I receive upteen sports channels that I have no interest in, whatsoever. I would like to see a "cafeteria" package so people can pick their channels and pay accordingly.

Well, price of things go up.  If you can't afford it, too bad.  There are plenty of things that I would love to buy that I can't afford...like champagne room time at strip clubs for instance.  So I do without it.  I have to settle for couch  room dances.  Just like it appears that you will have to do without Cloo.  I guess you could always read a mystery.

If I wanted a smart aleck reply, I would wait for AT&T to respond. You miss the point, entirely.

AT&T probably won't even give you a reply, not even a smart aleck one.  They simply do not care.  But how exactly did I miss the point?  The point is that if you want to continue to watch Cloo, you will have to pony up more dough and subscribe to U-300.  And if you can't afford to do that, then you will have to do without it.  That sucks, but that's life. It ain't coming back to U-200.  I guess the ratings for it are low so they moved it to a higher tier.

The fact is, I simply cannot afford to go to a higher tier. I am advocating for AT&T to offer "cafeteria" plans so people with limited income can continue to watch the channels they enjoy. Obviously, you are not retired, living on limited income. I will give up watching CLOO because I have no other choice.

I do not see The Weather Channel, MSNBC, NBC, etc. moving to a different tier. I am considering taking my business elsewhere. I simply cannot continuing to pay the outrageous amount I pay for U-verse just to have them remove channels (Esquire) or move them to a higher tier. It is very sad AT&T doesn't even consider their loyal customers.

Oh ja ATT is scraped for cash with their UVerse service & channel lineup, cant afford to keep CLOO in U200 - I must need to be paying much more than the $150 for bare minimum services so ATT has enough $.

I talked to customer service & they assurred me I am mistaken - ATT RARELY ever moves channels, they told me that no channels would have been changed w/o customers being sent an email & a note on their statements. mm hmm   ATT has no other place to post updates except for http://programmingchanges.att.com/  Great stuff for the largest COMMUNICATIONS company in the world!

I didn't hear about it until it was already off U200. I am very disappointed in their customer response and you're absolutely right, we all pay too much for them to treat all their customers this way.

Apparently ATT expects their customers to continuously monitor http://programmingchanges.att.com/ - which shows posts from USA Today. ATT makes no effort to inform customers of this type of thing, they dont have problem making effort to inform customers when their bill is due!

And remind you even when it's not due until the end of the month!  LOL!

Seriously, if we say pretty please, that'll keep our favorite shows available? And you say you're an employer?

It seems like the it's not the channels that don't have good ratings that get moved up to the next higher tier. I think a channel that does good consistently is moved up so that people will pay for the next higher tier. We are about to change to Sling TV or one of those services. I pay 190 a month for crap that we never watch as the channels that we do watch get moved up a few at a time. I really enjoy Uverse, but they are about to price everyone out of their services I'm afraid.

Well, I have to admit, my interests are certainly limited with ATT. If I weren't 70, I can't say I'd ever watch anything on the tier 2 list except the multiple news channels. And now that I'm into my second year, I've seen just about anything I want to see in the way of old shows and reruns. So I'm thinking of going NetFlix like my kids. Or Hulu which allows you to see mainstream shows the next day. ATT is continuing to run a good thing (constant subscriptions) into a loss.

"Cafeteria pricing" (more commonly called "a la carte pricing") has been discussed for years.  It is not nearly as easy, or as cost-saving, as you might think.

Do not assume that, if you see a price list of what each channel charges for cable companies to include it, that you would be able to get that channel for anywhere near that amount.  Channels tend to be grouped into "packages" so the costs of channels can be spread out over more subscribers.

And please don't assume that when we sign up for the package of shows we
see listed that we don't care if that list is corrupted by popular options
being moved. If we pay for a 'package', we should be able to see that
package of shows.
How simple is that? Very simple, very logical, and very much what we pay
for.

I have been a bit concerned with ATT Uverse pricing and business practices as well. Many do not know this but ATT does offer periodic promotions for existing customers. It does require a bit of monitoring and awareness on your part though otherwise you will end up paying more. For example, I recently called them about the removal of CLOO from U200. They gave me U300 for 3 months for $5 less than I am paying for U200. They said the promotion could continue past the 3 month mark but to call them right before the expiration of the 3 months for current promotions at that time. You do need to make sure you put it in your calendar to call them on day 89 so they don't charge you the full price.

Hope this helps.
