Do not believe anything promised by ATT representative!

I usually don't complain about any service providers but this issue has to be noted.

I called ATT to change my phone line on September 12 to remove one of my cell phone line. Diana, an ATT represent, processed that cancellation and then pitched me the U-verse promotion. If I switch over from my cable internet provider, I can receive this amazing deal on high speed internet (12mbps and basic tv for 74 dollars) as compare to paying just 47 dollars for my basic internet alone. I told her that I do not watch TV so her offer is not appealing. She said, I can just cancel the TV service after the 30 days and I would still be under contract so I won't get charge for early termination fee. Once I do that, my internet cost will only be 34.95 plus tax. I was hesitant and told her that I do not want to change despite the better offer because of the activation cost and installation cost. Then she threw me a curve ball, she said she talked to her manager and got approved for a $200 dollar gift card per service and the activation/installation cost will be waive. Afraid that I would get swindle in switching, I asked her to annotate my account to avoid any problems whenever I do call in and cancel my TV portion of the service.

Today, I called to cancel my TV service and a new represent told me a whole different story. She told me that since I didn't cancel before the 30 days, there is an early termination fee of 165 dollar per service. She also told me that there were no message on my account and went on to say that an email was sent out stating I was under contract. The email was sent out on September 13th. I checked my email and the only two mails that were received was on account creation. The representative went on to say as if condescending was that there's nothing she can do and she can sent that email out again as if it was my fault that I got tricked. As for the $200 dollar gift card, that promotion was a hoax. The representative since there were no message on my account, all she saw was a promotion for the $100 per service. She said that no where would I ever get the promotion promised regardless of any internet provider. I requested a call back from a manager because the represent was getting too condescending.

I don't know if anyone has gotten similar problems. I felt lied to by this company which suppose to try to improve on its customer service. I have been with this company as a cell phone provider for over 11 years now but this latest stint is leaving me wanting to switch all my services out. In addition to the horrible customer service, whenever ATT came to install their service. They botched the installation and made a big hole down my hall way arch. If I could attach a picture of the botched installation, I would for everyone to see.

They told me they'd replace my two dsl modems with one Uverse free that would do the job.. it didn't work, had to be moved once.. reworked once.. got charge 149 twice. Tv added to replace directv... wrong... Uverse is like kindergaten compared to Directv technology.. and further more to get two Uverse modems in here I will have to split my property into two different address with two 911 accounts and that will incur two tax bills and multiple problems with the county. The sale force has no idea what the installation crew can do and not do in rural areas... they lie. I have also been overcharged for a disconnected dsl system.. the dsl and the unverse are both being billed along with a number that was disconnecte over two years ago... and worse, my stupid accoutant paid them... now I watch every bill.. my last phone call to billing lasted 4 hours solid and the problems are still not resolved, they just keep passing down new phone numbers.. so far I have racked up over 19 hours of phone time with att reps since early July... I want my 250.00/hour consulting fees paid in credits on the future bills.
