Do the LINK and HD lights on the receiver always stay on? They are small but very bright and light up a dark room.

Hello jdws17, I apologize about the LED lights on the receiver being too bright. I understand this could become annoying over time. As a result of a firmware upgrade the blue HD light remains on and the only way to turn it off is if you change the ASPECT Ratio to something other then HD. This will change the ASPECT ratio and picture on your screen so it is not recommended to change settings if you do not feel comfortable changing settings on your receiver. This will not help the green link light that indicates the receiver is connected to the network. The suggestion beebeesa provided is the most common solution to prevent being bothered by these lights. We understand this is not a permanent solution and this has been reported by many. Our development teams have acknowledged these LED lights may be a problem for some users and changes to the operation of these LED lights will come with future firmware upgrades.

I used a small piece of electrical tape and taped over the LED's....problem solved.

Thank you for the electrical tape suggestion. I have been very concerned that the bright green lights on the router were causing headaches in our family. And of course there is no way to fall sleep in a room with that many lights blinking so we are glad the ATT boxes are in the game room and not in a bedroom. The bussing of the router wires in the attic for our new higher speed internet are also annoying but that's the price of progress.

You are posting in a 6-year old thread!
You mean "buzzing"? I can't see how that possible with ethernet cables leading to the gateway at any speed. So if I hear buzzing I would be more worried about 60-Hz humming from some 110v power source and hunt that down just to be sure!
Note if you have fiber, and the ONT is up there, maybe it's power adapter is buzzing but sill that is something I would think needs verifying.
