Do you really have to Pay to replace failed remotes for UVerse?
Hello. We have multiple UVerse remotes that have simply have died after several years. Stopped by store and associate said they had none but did say I could request replacements from ATT web site. The only option I can find is to go to the store and pay $20 each?! Is this really the only way to get a replacement remote? To pay for it? These aren't extra remotes, these are remotes that just gave out after normal use.
I am hoping some from ATT tells me how to get them replaced for free. Right now we are just passing a single functioning remote from room to room but that's getting old quick. Thank you for your consideration.

You can ask for free replacements by calling tech support (800-288-2020).

Wanted to thank you again. The call worked like a champ and (reasonably) painless. I still had to sit through the script of changing batteries, pushing the buttons, resetting receiver, geesh but once past that the Agent hooked me up. Thanks again!

Ah ha, so replacements are still free.
I really did have a hard time believing a recent claim in a thread stating they were no longer free. Maybe they happened to connect to a tech support people in a bad mood or just miss-informed as ever. Thanks for the feedback.

I'm guessing they got the same advice as me at one of the ATT stores and that was, 'Just go online and request replacement remotes'. But googling 'att uverse replacement remotes' just ends up pointing you to the ATT store (not counting ebay here which also shows up) wanting you to pay $20. ATT really needs to fix this page because going off this info, I too thought you had to pay. Nowhere did I get this number except your post and thank you for that. The Att page for 'Order a new or replacement U-verse TV remote control' just gives you a link to the $20 option. No phone number anywhere. It won't let me post the link here it seems, but if you were to google it, you will see the same, and only $20 option that I was presented. Thank you again!

Sure it does. Either explicitly cut/paste the link into the reply, for example,
https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/u-verse-tv/KM1009906
or IMO better yet, highlight some words you what to represent the link and click the "chain" icon in the toolbar above the reply and enter the link there. Like this.
