Hello. The box is always on. However, you can set a sleep timer on your tv utilizing your U-Verse Remote. 1. Press the "TV" button at the top of your remote. 2. Press the TV Button next to the "Yellow A" on your remote (it says "exit to" in an arc above the button). 3. Then you press the "menu" button. You should have some type of box display pop-up. Look for "setting" or "setup" on the pop-up box on your television using your arrow keys on your remote. Use the "ok" button to select. Once you are in either "setup" or "settings", look for "timer" or "sleep timer" and select okay. You can then select your desired time. Press the "tv" button with the "exit to" arc above the button to exit.
Once again it's on the TV, not the Uverse equipment.
By the way, your method does not work on my TV as there is no way to make the menu move w/the arrow keys. 😉
Chris

Unluckily no, it's always 'on' to be able to record scheduled recordings.
