DVR mysterioulsy records programming that I did not set to record

I am not sure if this has happened to anyone else. It has been going on randomly someone or some person is recording programs that I know I did not set to record. I contacted ATT tech support on this issue changed my password and made sure it worked on the MY TV online area on the web.

What evidence I have that I know its someone who may have been using my account is two things that this person or whoever is recording loves Mexican music station, Sesame Street and soccer in spanish.

I came with my investigation that it may have been a hacker who stole my username and password to gain online uverse tv and was setting the recorder which was connected to me maybe just to get me mad while they were watching program online using my account. There is no way someone can set recordings on my dvr etc unless they 1 are att insiders or 2 they are illegal alien or maybe foreign Mexican customers hacking into my uverse web tv accounts. This may have been an issue on stolen accounts when I read in California that contractors working inside ATT had stolen Uverse accounts not so long ago. California is not so far away from the Mexican border.

Anyway after changing the password for now it seems that it stopped. I am not getting recorded shows being done from the outside of my domain but will see..

Asta maniana!

Hi wxwatch,

I'm sorry you experienced your account being used by an unknown user. Thank you for sharing your solution. You took an excellent approach towards resolving the issue. Resetting your password is the recommended action to ensure your accounts are safe. If you continue to notice unauthorized access to your account please send me your account number along with some contact information to ATTU-verseCare and I will explore some options to help you prevent further unauthorized access.

ATT Thank you for your response I figure your response would ignore the serious nature of this problem.

Why doesnt ATT admit to this problem. You people ignored my issue.

I hate ATT for rediculing me for the interest of protecting themselves from panic to other
customers or embbarassement to the media. Yeah lets hide in the bushes and let it
blow over until it happens again!

Maybe I will forward this issue to the FTC and or FBI.

Ill think about it unless you can admit that it has happened to others and is a serious
issue!

I'm thinking of getting rid of ATT!

Can you watch DVR content on a computer?

Are you saying that there is no way that someone could have obtained your password except via AT&T?

You do realize that both pieces of information you provided have NOTHING to do with obtaining access to your DVR, right?

The first talked about unlocking devices to resell and the other was obtaining credit/debit information.  While both incidents are disturbing, it's like comparing apples and oranges.

FYI:  You CANNOT watch DVR content on a computer, yours, mine, an illegal alien's. Can't be done.  Sorry for the hole in your theory.

Yes they can!

If they have your username and password they can program recordings online via uverse web site.

You are wrong!

Also as myself I can watch channels online also as long as I am a uverse customer. So if someone else has your password and username as its obtained from the accounts they surely can.

Skeeter said that you (or anyone else) cannot watch your recordings online, which is 100% accurate.  That feature doesn't exist.  You can watch streamed content, but not your actual recordings.  Even when there's a Watch button on a recording, you're really just streaming the content.

And, yes, if someone has your credentials, AT&T cannot tell it's not you.  So change your password regularly and don't leave it exposed.
