ESPN Classic not on HD
I pay for HD service, yet ESPN Classic is not offered in HD even though most shows presented by ESPN Classic are now broadcast in HD.
Thanks,
Bob

ESPN Classic does not broadcast in HD, SD (480i) only, channel 603 on Uverse.
Take it up with The Walt Disney Company.

Are you sure it's available in HD?

Unfortunately, @skeeterintexas is right. ESPN Classic does not broadcast in HD to any provider.
Personally, I think I'd like a simulcast of ESPN Classic on 1603, just to put those ESPN channels together on the guide. Then again, I'm not sure I'd watch the channel any more if they did. (Just about the only time I do is when they have their coverage of the marching bands during the FBS playoff championship game.) Even then, the channel would be 4x3 SD with black bars on the side.
Oh, and for that matter, ESPN Deportes would fit perfectly in the 160x range as well.
But back to ESPN Classic. There've been occasional rumors that ESPN wants to do "something" with that channel, as they don't get big ratings with it. These rumors have been everything from shutting it down to converting it into a channel for international/obscure/niche sports. These rumors seem to have settled down, as ESPN lost the recent bidding war for the English soccer games when NBC won them. You may remember back around 2006 when they would show occasional live sports...these helped to fuel the rumors as well.
Still, I bet John Skipper (CEO of ESPN) is not happy with ESPN Classic as a 24x7 SD channel for rebroadcasts of classic games.
